POD 03.30.09

This is painted on the side of a Rite Aid in Chelsea. The two probably aren't related, but the image is still sweet. Not sure about the girl's funny looking leg.

POD 03.29.09

Spring has definitely arrived in DC. Still feels really cold in New York. 65F never felt so good!

POD 03.28.09

Leila (left) and Zara (right). Just chillin' out.

POD 03.27.09

I finally arrived in DC on Friday to visit the Ackils and meet the twins. Here, Zara and her dad, Josh. Zara loves flying through the air and dancing.

POD 03.26.09

Anna Maria finally arrived in NYC...to celebrate, we ate dinner in the West Village, and she slowly fell asleep...she must have seen everything in a blur. Like this!

POD 03.25.09

I'm sorry I missed a day. I was daydreaming about red velvet cake. Like the massive piece we scored at Radegast Hall from a neighboring birthday party. Served with passive-aggressive bitterness on the side, this cake was tasty--yet the slice, we agree, was a little too big. Obviously that didn't stop Georgia, Greg, Ceren and me from eating all of it.

POD 03.24.09

Sometimes I think New York sunsets are as good as eggs at brunch. And thanks to daylight savings, if I don't work late, I get to see this from my apartment window.

POD 03.23.09

It's almost Tribeca Film Festival time. I feel like I've seen this sign on TV a lot before. So I took a picture of it on my walk home from work. For you.

A little color to brighten your day, courtesy of the party store on 14th street. Awesome.

POD 03.21.09

Ah, Radegast Hall...site of the new tradition of Saturday afternoon shenanigans in Williamsburg. It will be sad when I can no longer attend, but until then....

I celebrated the first day of spring by going to a film opening with Chris and Megan...it also happens to be the 5th anniversary of their wedding in Oaxaca! Anyway, the movie was 'Sin Nombre'....check it out if you get the chance. Very good. Here, a photo taken during the Q&A session with the writer/director, Cary Fukunaga.

POD 03.19.09

Oh, come on. Give us a break, NYC. Why bother then? Just pave it and add some stores. Shameful.

POD 03.18.09

It was warm out today, and it was also Ed's last day in the NYC office before heading back to London. So we went to Another Place, a bar in Tribeca, and Georgia scored this table outside. Well, it got cold, and I had my Austrian slippers handy (the office is really cold)....so why not wear them while enjoying the nice soon-to-be-spring air?

Ohhhh...one too many Guinnesses tonight! So I leave you with these two. Happy St. Patrick's Day, my old friend.

POD 03.16.09

There is only one elevator working in my 22-story building. So I present to you the most exciting part of my day today: waiting for it to get to the first floor.

Why anyone would throw out these perfectly good mini-lawns, I don't know. I live off of W.28th, which happens to be a wholesale foliage retail stretch of road between 6th and 7th Avenues. In the middle of the day, it can feel like a jungle walking on the sidewalks.

Not quite sure why this caught my eye, but it did. It's a sunny day here in NYC, so why not tie balloons to your galoshes?

POD 03.13.09

Super skinny tower by a super skinny architect for people with not so skinny wallets.

It's a joke, right? Fashion friends, please clarify. I saw this obviously FIT-bound student standing in front of me on the 1 train. After reading his bag over and over again, I had to pull out my camera. I hope he does well this semester. Bag: by Marc Jacobs (I think).

POD 03.11.09

I walked home from work tonight because it was a really nice evening. The sun was setting and the sky turned pink, but I was too far east to really get a good view. When all hope was lost, I turned around and saw a handsome lower Manhattan waving good-night.

POD 03.10.09

Kiehl's gets a lot of fans from word of mouth, hefty price tags, and 'scientific'-looking packaging. But really, I think people like to think that they, too, can afford beauty supplies from a quirky shop selling horse mane shampoo and displaying in its windows things like....motorcycles.

POD 03.09.09

Today was a terribly gloomy day. There was no reason to look up at all. It was just grey all over, raining, and cold. I looked down and even the sidewalk stuck its tongue out at me.

This is Caterina Cayten...probably the coolest baby ever. She's so cool, in fact, that she didn't notice the gigantic frog that landed on her.

POD 03.07.09

Today is particularly warm. I wore a t-shirt and was still warm, so that was really good. I took a walk to the river so I could sit on a bench and study a little bit, but the clouds had come in by the time I sat down. So I went back home and passed these unfortuante people who were stuck with the task of delivering a few balloons to a party in the West Village.

This morning I woke up to this view. It reminded me a lot of London afternoon storms. Spooky, but really nice, too.

It's the hotel and motel trade union! Marching past our office.

POD 03.04.09

A perfectly poladroidable-adorable shot of a great yellow coat in a typical New York playground. I couldn't resist, Georgia!

Goodbye, Eagle Eyes. This is how I see the world now.
Well, at my computer at least.

POD 03.02.09

Here is proof that today's storm was the most overblown, over-discussed nor'easter. They cancelled public schools today for this: 10 inches of snow that was gone before it really fully landed. The snow was cleared off the roads well before I woke up at 6:30, and I didn't fall once. Here, snow on trash bags. Kinda looks like dessert.

POD 03.01.09

Hmmm....I'm pretty healthy, but still can't buy that sweater I saw the other day. Rats. This sign has been up for many years, but I suppose it's a little more poignant these days...

And today is March 1st...RABBIT. If you wake up on the first day of the month and the first thing you say out loud is 'rabbit' (this is very hard to do if you have pets or someone sleeping next to you), then you will have good luck for that entire month. Just a little bit of knowledge I picked up from Lauren.
